Jite Okoloko, on Friday 4th November 2011, at the maiden edition of the Ernst & Young West African Entrepreneur of the Year, won the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Category. He was picked out of 7 other contestants in a keenly contested competition by an independent panel of judges. Mr Henry Egbiki, Country Head, Ernst & Young stated that the winners were determined by their contribution to the economic development in their country and to him “All contestants are winners in their own right, but someone has to win the prize”.
Jite, in receiving the award, said that there was a lot of work to be done in the agricultural sector as there were 7 billion mouths to feed in the world. Outside Africa, each person has over 25% more food but in sub Saharan Africa each person has 10% less food. There is therefore a lot more work to be done in Africa.
